Day 32
It seems like every other day is an insurance day. Jackie was scheduled for her port tomorrow, but when the hospital called to confirm her info today, they told her Blue Cross was still her primary. They informed her that due to the fact she still had the insurance and she is the primary on the account, the hospital will take that over my Blue Shield. Since her Blue Shield is under my name, that is now her secondary insurance. In order to switch Blue Shield to primary she much cancel her Blue Cross, which takes 3 days to process. Anyways luckily she was able to backdate her Blue Cross cancellation to the beginning of this month.
Tomorrow is porting and chemotherapy the next day. Nobody has any solid advice to how you will act towards treatment. Some come out with no problem at all, others have nausea and constipation. Some say to watch what you eat, others are eating hamburgers. I will bring a little of everything for Jackie to prepare for the worst and the best. Water and fiber is good for constipation, candy is good for the foul taste of certain drugs, oats and honey have a bland taste to fill her stomach, and vitamin supplements will keep her immune and body system strong.
I feel this whole process has helped me prioritize my life. First, I have to be a supportive and loving husband. Second, I have to be a good provider. Third, I have to be the informant for family and friends. And so forth… I realize that when it comes to someone you love, your mind and body will automatically do what is best. I know that I have to work everyday but when time is needed for my wife, I will drop it all. Its pretty easy when your number one priority is someone you love.
