Day 27
In order to get places in life, you have to be assertive. It is the assertive person that is the most popular in school. It is the assertive one that gets the job and the raise. It is also the assertive one that will get treated medically. The patient that waits for her appointment will never get treated. Jackie has definitely experienced this personally. She saw her PCP yesterday who sent a referral to the general surgeon, our oncologist, and OBGYN. The last step before chemo is to install the port of chemo therapy from the general surgeon. Jackie had to call the surgeons office herself today and they denied any referral sent. After another set of phone calls to the PCP they finally offered her an appointment 2 weeks later. Incredible huh? Luckily Jackie’s oncologist office is willing to fend for us. They told her it is unacceptable and called the office personally. Her appointment is tomorrow at 3pm. Ridiculous huh!
Today we had a large dinner with my company. Everyone loves seeing Jackie. It is definitely encouraging to have lots of support. Any type of encouragement seems to be received 2 fold due to our current situation. I guess I am definitely still very lucky.
